seo consultant — uk & us, in practice since 2007
SEO consultant who ships.
Most SEO consultancy ends at the deck. Mine ends at the pull request. Since 2007 I've audited, migrated and rebuilt sites for FTSE 100 brands, blue-chip retail and one-person companies, and the thing clients keep coming back for is the same: the person who found the problem is the person who fixed it.

who this is for — three situations
01
You've had the audit. Nothing shipped.
A ninety-page PDF, a backlog in Jira, a dev team with other priorities. I take the backlog and close it, in your codebase, with the commits on the record.
02
Traffic fell and nobody can say why.
Diagnosis from the instruments — logs, Search Console, server timing — before anyone proposes a fix. Trade2Sync's collapse began seven months before the migration everyone blamed; the exports said so once someone read them.
03
You're building something and search was going to come later.
Search is structural. I sit in the build as its technical lead, so URLs, rendering, structured data and speed are right the first time instead of retrofitted.
how the work runs — four stations
01
Read
Logs, Search Console, a full crawl, server timing, and the answer engines' view of the site. A frozen inventory first, so every later number has a baseline.
02
Find
The root cause, named plainly, with the evidence beside it. If the fix is small I say so. If the problem lives somewhere else, I say that too.
03
Ship
The fix as production code or a precise change to the platform you're on — WordPress, Shopify, Next.js, bare nginx. Tested, reversible, documented.
04
Prove
The readout, from the instrument that produced it, written in plain words. What moved, what didn't, and what comes next.

01What does an SEO consultant do that an agency doesn't?
An agency sells you a team. A consultant sells you judgement — and in my case the implementation as well. There's no account manager because there's no account to manage: you talk to the person doing the work, and the work includes the code.
02Do you work with businesses outside the UK?
Yes. A good share of recent engagements have been US companies, with the rest in the UK and Europe. Everything runs remotely, in writing first, with calls when they earn their place.
03How does an engagement start?
With a brief — a few lines about the site, the problem and whatever evidence you already have. I reply personally with an honest read on fit and shape. Scoping happens in one call or thread, and work opens against a frozen inventory so progress has a baseline from the first day.
04What do you charge?
It depends on the shape: a one-off audit finished as fixes, a fractional head of search, an embedded technical lead, or a build. Send the brief and pricing comes back in plain terms by email — no sales process, no discovery-call funnel.
05Do you do link building?
Not as a product. I fix the reasons a site can't earn or hold rankings, and I've cleaned up more bought-link profiles than I've built — 1,273 junk referring domains disavowed on one recent file. Where links genuinely matter, the plan says exactly where and why.
06Can you work inside our development team's process?
That's the usual shape. Pull requests against your repository, your review, your release cadence. I've done it as an embedded lead and as the only engineer in the room.
start — the brief
A few lines about the site, the problem and the evidence you have.
The reply is a straight read on fit and shape, from the person who does the work. If what you need is small, it says so. If it is not a fit, it points somewhere better.
